"More often than not, it is difficult for us to relate to the awe-inspiring God of the Bible because we do not allow him to manifest himself in any way except 'the way we have always done it.' The day has come for believers to reclaim spirituality and mystery through every avenue possible…" - The Fine Art of Worship: True Worship and Art in the Twenty-First Century Church, Dell Belew, PhD, 2012
Often referred to as "intuitive painting," Worship Painting is a creative avenue in which the Holy Spirit uses the person and the paint. Done during a worship service, the painter positions the easel and canvas in the front of the sanctuary, with his/her back to the congregation, allowing them the opportunity to occasionally peek in on the creative process as it unfolds.
Worship Painting is making its way into mainstream worship as an additional method for the Word and Spirit of God to be expressed. The art is not for art sake but as a form of worship. "As an artist, mostly as a poet, I have come to painting not by accident but by assignment. It has become a personal way for me to be in tune to God," Jacinta shares.
It is with prayer that Jacinta offers herself and her gifts as an artist in worship in this way. She is available to worship with your church family and paint as the Holy Spirit leads, leaving the painting for you and your congregation to interpret and hopefully be blessed by, without cost to you (donations will be accepted).
